A Study on the Significance of the Creative Courage of St. Joseph. A Theological Paradigm for Renewed and Vigilant Commitment in Consecrated Life in the Digital Era

This doctoral research examines the creative courage of St. Joseph as a theological paradigm for fostering renewed and vigilant commitment in consecrated life within the context of the digital age. Grounded in biblical, theological, spiritual, and empirical analysis, the study argues that creative courage is a fundamental expression of human participation in God’s creative and redemptive action. It identifies the digital era as both an opportunity and a challenge for consecrated persons, requiring a balanced integration of evangelization, contemplation, discernment, and ethical responsibility. Drawing on St. Joseph’s qualities of authenticity, adaptability, integrity, and obedience to God’s will, the thesis proposes his creative courage as a model for prophetic and faithful engagement with contemporary digital culture. Empirical findings from religious communities in India reveal significant tensions between digital involvement and spiritual integration, highlighting deficiencies in formation, leadership, and digital discernment. The study further emphasizes spiritual intelligence as the inner capacity that sustains creative courage and enables consecrated persons to interpret reality through the lens of faith. Based on these findings, it offers practical recommendations at personal, community, and congregational levels. The research concludes that the future renewal of consecrated life depends not primarily on technological adaptation but on holiness, contemplative wisdom, and creative courage rooted in trust in God.
